Ruth 4:14-15. Kinsman Redeemer

Rut 4:14 Then the women said to Naomi, "Blessed is the Lord who has not left you without a redeemer [goel] today, and may his name become famous in Israel.

Title: Ruth 4:14-15. Kinsman Redeemer

Rut 4:13 So Boaz took Ruth, and she became his wife, and he went in to her. And the Lord enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son.

Rut 4:14 Then the women said to Naomi, "Blessed is the Lord who has not left you without a redeemer [goel] today, and may his name become famous in Israel.

Rut 4:15 May he also be to you a restorer of life and a sustainer of your old age; for your daughter-in-law, who loves you and is better to you than seven sons, has given birth to him."

The redeemer is now the child Obed because someday he will be the one to redeem all of Naomi's possessions....

Pro 31:24 She makes linen garments and sells them, And supplies belts to the tradesmen.

Excellent flax grew in Galilee where the art of weaving excelled. The excellent woman is also industrious.

The KJV states that she delivers girdles to the merchants.

This is yet another description of her industriousness and care for her household, which has already been mentioned.

The excellent/virtuous wife is: rare, valuable, trustworthy, lover of good, prepared, lover of her work, courageous, energetic, considers others more important, not rash, industrious, strong, enjoys the fruit of her labor, skillful, gracious, unafraid, creative.

Title: Independence special: Being independent and free in the worship of God.

All of us should know the feeling of power that comes from knowing that we can live and walk in the only truth and goodness and virtue that Christ has graciously given us, and that no circumstance, person or group of persons no matter how powerful in worldly matters, can stop us.

George Whitefield, an Anglican priest assigned to the colony of Georgia in the 1730's. Georgia had four prohibitions: rum, slavery, Roman Catholics, and lawyers. It didn't prosper however. It was taken over by the crown in 1753.

Whitefield, in the rum-less Georgia, ministered for a year and then returned to England in order to raise money for an orphanage that he wanted to build...

Winter approaches and times will be tougher. She is prepared and not afraid. The coverings in her house are wool; warm (she spins) and scarlet; not only functional but ornamental (skill and care).
