    Tuesday May 22, 2018
    Title: Ruth 4:8-12. Final chapter - Our home with Christ in the word "abide" - loving your brother.
    As we look at John's use of the word "abide" in connection with our home with Christ, we are currently looking at the second usage of the word in John's first epistle.
    We have already looked at the first usage.
    1Jo 2:1 My little children, I am writing these things to you that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;
    1Jo 2:2 and He Himself is the...

    Title: Ruth 4:8-12. Final chapter - Our home with Christ in the word "abide" - loving your brother.
    1Jo 2:9 The one who says he is in the light and yet hates his brother is in the darkness until now.
    1Jo 2:10 The one who loves his brother abides in the light and there is no cause for stumbling in him.
    1Jo 2:11 But the one who hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
    As we continue looking at the home that Christ has prepared for us, focusing on the word "abide", we learn that God's love is a key component of its foundation.
    One cannot say that...

    Title: Ruth 4:8-12. Final chapter - Our home with Christ in the word "abide".
    Introduction: The whisper and thunder of God.
    Job 26:14 "Behold, these are the fringes of His ways;
    And how faint a word we hear of Him!
    But His mighty thunder, who can understand?"
    We all face adversity. Enemies attempt to remove our eyes from the sweet and wonderful home that the Lord has given us, which exists right in our hearts. We could never leave this home because we cannot leave Him, but we can look out the windows and over to the darkness that we have been delivered from and get our eyes on lust and pride as if we were itching to leave. When we do, sin will enter our hearts, but we are not beaten. Recognizing our error and foolishness, we turn...

    Heb 10:15 And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us; for after saying,
    The following is the New Covenant stated to Israel by the prophet Jeremiah.
    Heb 10:16 "This is the covenant that I will make with them
    After those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws upon their heart,

    Title: Ruth 4:8-12. Final chapter - Our home with Christ is a clear conscience.
    Paul from prison, after years of feeling the opposition of those who hated the way, wrote to the Colossians: Let no one keep defrauding you of your prize.
    Col 2:18 Let no one keep defrauding you of your prize by delighting in self-abasement and the worship of the angels, taking his stand on visions he has seen, inflated without cause by his fleshly mind,
    Col 2:19 and not holding fast to the head, from whom the entire body, being supplied and held together by the joints and ligaments, grows with a growth which is from God.
    "defraud" - to act as an umpire or to arbitrate, but when not the Head, leading our eyes away from home, the way of Christ....

    Title: Ruth 4:8-12. Final chapter - Our home with Christ is a clear conscience.
    John was protecting his flock from false teachers while simultaneously reminding them of the wonderful world of abiding in Christ.
    1Jo 2:1 My little children, I am writing these things to you that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;
    1Jo 2:2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.
    1Jo 2:3 And by this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments.

  • Ruth 4:8-12. Final chapter “ Christ’s way is the home of our soul.
    Title: Ruth 4:8-12. Final chapter - Christ's way is the home of our soul.
    Satan has a campaign to destroy our vision of our home in Christ and so to destroy our love, joy, peace, and fellowship with our brothers and sisters.
    We overcome the hateful attacks of the devil by receiving the word of God with faith and walking in its way and thus producing fruit. Jesus was clear that we must love Him and keep His word. The NT is clear that we must come to know Him through the written word. He is on its pages and these must be soaked in and believed by every saint. By walking in His precious way, the campaign of the devil against us will fail, and not only this, but it will only serve to make us stronger. It will not draw us away from God, but rather nearer to Him by seeking His power in our own weakness.
    The way of Christ...

    Title: Ruth 4:8-12. Final chapter - Christ's way is the home of our soul.
    The NT ascribes snares and traps to the devil, from which Christ has come to set us free. The NT also ascribes schemes to the devil and that Christ has come to expose those schemes.
    Christ cast out demons. He healed the blind and the deaf. These works indicate the freedom that we have in Him - sight and hearing of things we could never have before, and surpassing power above the works of the devil. Jesus is the strong man who robs the house and Satan is the weak man who is so robbed.
    We are to put on the full...

    Ruth 4:8-12. Final chapter - Defending our home.
    Satan and the kingdom of darkness will relentlessly attack us with the objective that the word sown will not be met with faith and that we will not produce fruit by which our Father is glorified.
    The word of truth about Christ and about the gifts given to every believer far supersedes the lies that seek to discredit it, the worries and concerns of the world, the persecution that comes, and the lusts that tempt.
    Mar 4:13 And He said to them, "Do you not understand this parable? And how will you understand all the parables?...
