Our high priest is an absolute guarantee that the holy, perfect, righteous, untamable God of creation will receive us. The theme of Hebrews is everything in Christ continues from the Old Testament but everything in Christ is better. We have seen Him as better than the angels who minister to us. We have seen Him as better than Moses. Now we see Him as the better priesthood. There is a continuity from what was because Aaron-s priesthood taught us to look for Him but there is also a betterment. Like all these other things it is so much better there will never be any more better. Christ is eternally the perfect.

Overview: The Bible is the form of covenant. That's its shape, that's how it's designed. If you don't' understand covenant, the Bible, as a whole, will be nonsensical. If you understand covenant, you will understand what to do with all the little pieces. Most Christians are kind of Ann Landers Christians. They have a whole bunch of broken spiritual ideas floating in their head-they are not systemized in any way and if they were to think about them they'd find that a lot of them are contradictory. They take a little piece here and a little piece there. They know a bit of the Bible and they know a bit of something else. But they really don't know what God's doing. God is doing covenant. God is the great King who has brought you into His kingdom. God is shaping you into His people. God is making you saved by grace. He is making you zealous for good works. That's the covenant.
