Serving God is a blessing and privilege. And God calls us all to serve in some capacity. But God has specially called some to be leading servants in the church, called deacons. Not only do they preserve the unity of the church through service, they meet the practical needs of the church and it's members, and they serve as an example for us all. The church is God's instrument that He is using to declare and defend the truth of the Gospel. And because of this it is critical that the church gets the leadership right. Unqualified elders/pastors inevitably lead theological and behavioral issues in the church. What this means is the church must recognize when someone is called to be an elder/pastor, make sure he meets the biblical qualifications, and then train him and support him. The truth is the local church is the only God-given entity for raising up and ordaining Elders/Pastors. Listen to this weeks message.
