One of the most delicate things that Elders in the church need to learn is how to use their God-given authority. In 1 Timothy 5:1-2, Paul might still have been thinking of dealing with the false teachings in the Church when he admonished Timothy on how to approach different kinds of people in it. From this passage, we will learn that maintaining the respect that a person is due is necessary if the exercise of pastoral duties should result in edification.
