Jesus sent His disciples (the 12) out two by two with a short list of dos and don'ts. With the authority given to them by Jesus, they greatly expanded Christ's ministry. We too have been authorized by Jesus to expand His ministry through the local church.

In Mark 4 and 5 Jesus shows His power over the forces of evil and the devil. He calms a storm (danger). He heals a demoniac (demons). He heals a woman with an issue of blood (disease). And he raises the daughter of Jairus from the dead (death). Jesus is King. His kingdom is advancing. He is available to help us today.

In this lesson we see the desperation of Jairus and the woman with the issue of blood. Desperation drives us to Jesus. It brings us to a place of humility where we can surrender our need to God and trust Him.

Jesus confronts evil and destroys it so that He can redeem and restore us. Any person restored by Jesus can be used of God to impact the world greatly. This is what we see in the story of the healing of the demoniac of Gadara.

Jesus teaches us lessons about truth, and then He puts us to the test.
In this lesson we see Jesus teach a series of parables teaching lessons on truth, and then He gives His disciples a test by putting them into a storm. The question is: will they trust Him? And they should because they have His promise, presence, and peace.

The soil of our heart makes all the difference when it comes to the seed of God's Word germinating, growing, and producing fruit.

Jesus tells a parable about a sower who cast seed into four different types of soil. Each soil represents a type of heart: hard, shallow, thorny, and good.

We each need to assess the condition of our heart and strive to prepare the soil of heart so that it gladly receives it and produces fruit.

Jesus was misunderstood by His friends, His family, and His enemies. Sometimes in your Christian faith and walk you too will be misunderstood. This lesson gives us some insight as to how to handle that situation.

Pressure in life is always coming at us. It was coming at Jesus too in His earthly ministry. How do we respond to the pressures that life brings our way?

Mark shares with us how Jesus was compassionate toward the needs and concerned for the hardhearted. We too should show compassion towards those in need and be concerned for others who have a hard heart towards God.

When a legalist begins to criticize us, then we must respond with biblical truth. That is exactly what Jesus did when He was criticized by the Pharisees.

Jesus healed a leper. This healing teaches us many lessons. Two of which are the lesson of salvation and the lesson of publication.
Jesus' healing of this man pictures the salvation (cleansing) of a sinner diseased with sin. And there is also a lesson about how we should share the greatest news of what has ever happened to us as believers, i.e. our cleansing from sin.
