Pastor's Perspective Archives - Stand Up For The Truth Podcast

NEW PODCAST: On this special solo edition of Stand Up For The Truth, Dave Wager asks a loaded question many of us don’t stop to think through: What are we really asking when we sing “God Bless America”? This isn’t just about waving flags or reciting patriotic songs. Dave unpacks the biblical reality that blessing always comes with responsibility. Drawing from Psalm 33:12—“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord”—he challenges listeners to consider whether we’re seeking comfort or commissioning. Have we used our blessings to glorify God and serve others, or have we settled into comfort and forgotten the Giver?

From the roots of Irving Berlin’s famous song to the fiery furnace of Daniel 3, Dave walks us through what true loyalty looks like—loyalty to God first, even when national pride gets loud. Patriotism isn’t wrong, he says, as long as it doesn’t eclipse obedience to the Lord. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego didn’t start a rebellion, but they drew a clear line. The call is the same for us today: respect authority, pray for leaders, and live lives marked by godliness and dignity—but never bow to what contradicts God’s Word.

Today, Mary Danielsen talks with Pastor Jeff Solwold of Calvary Chapel of Madison. Jeff’s teaching ministry, Upward Call, is a thorough, edifying systematic look at the Scriptures with fresh and encouraging insights to help the listener draw ever closer to the Saviour. Today we look at the role of the pastor, the definition of which is all too often taken from a file drawer job description, or – heaven forbid – an example gleaned from a YouTube channel focused on modern day methodology, often devoid of the Holy Spirit. We understand from Acts 20:28,”Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.” In other words, give attention to and devote thought to, leading like a shepherd – those God has put in your charge, because this flock of yours was purchased with the blood of Jesus. A sobering charge from Paul that pop culture pastors among us should, well, give heed to.

Jeff Solwold and Mary Danielsen discuss pastoring in these times; what does God’s Word say about such a high calling? What are some challenges since the world changed in 2020? We also pursue some hard questions about the state of Bible Colleges and Christian Colleges as they navigate the diversity/inclusion road. What does it take to shepherd the flock of God today? What is the responsibility of the flock in supporting their leaders in all humility? This podcast originally aired on 8/3/23.

[Original airdate: 5/11/21] TODAY’S GUEST is Reverend William (Bill) Cook, Founder and Executive Director of America’s Black Robe Regiment of Virginia, a clergy-led movement of Christian “Minutemen” actively committed to restoring the Foundations of Liberty in America, and the Pulpit’s Founding legacy as Wellspring of the political ideology that ignited a Revolution to “secure the Blessings of Liberty” to itself and its posterity.

A former pastor who also worked for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), you can contact Bill by email here: [email protected]

We discuss forgotten history of Christian church leaders, the “Black Robe Regiment,” and their impact on our Founders and freedoms in America; the growing movement of patriot pastors who refuse to back down from the lies of the enemy and threats to religious freedom.

“The situation in America is so dire, if the church doesn’t rise up prior to this election, we’re going to have genocide. Every single place where communism or Islam have gained the upper hand, there’s been genocide.”

“Pastors, if you will not preach an election sermon, then you can’t claim you are willing to preach the whole counsel of God.”

The Bible says that God established civil government for the express purpose of punishing evildoers and protecting the good that we may live peaceably in all Godliness.  When a government becomes perverted, we are not obliged to unlimited submission.” Bill Cook

[Original airdate: 3/28/22] TODAY’S GUEST is  Dan Fisher, co-pastor at Fairview Baptist Church, Edmond, OK. He served two terms in the OK Legislature and also ran for governor. Dan Fisher travels the country presenting “Bringing Back the Black Robed Regiment” – a multi-media production where he tells the amazing, true story of 18th century Patriot Pastors who led the men of their congregations and communities to fight for liberty in America’s War of Independence.

We discuss the importance of pastors re-engaging, ESG scores (Environmental, Social, Governance), federalism, Romans 13, Liberty Pastors (equipping and training godly men & church leaders), and of course, religious freedom.

Unlimited Submission? – book by Dan Fisher: How often have you heard a Christian pastor/bible teacher declare that Romans 13:1-5 requires Christians to submit to their governmental leaders – no matter what, and that they are sinning if they don’t? For years, spiritual leaders have been shackling believers with a flawed interpretation of Romans 13:1-5 – especially as to how it applies to citizens living in a republic like ours.

.Crash Connell visits with Pastor Dr. JB Hixson today on the events we know as Holy Week. Monday through Sunday. Glorious events, prophecy fulfilled and God’s plan for redemption to those who believe in HIS ONLY SON.

Matthew 21 When they had approached Jerusalem and had come to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, Jesus then sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied there and a colt with it. Untie them and bring them to Me. 3 And if anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord needs them,’ and he will send them on immediately.” 4 Now this took place so that what was spoken through the prophet would be fulfilled:

5 “Say to the daughter of Zion,
