I have lived my entire life as a pastor's daughter and later and currently, a pastor's wife. Pink Floyd's song always ran through my head growing up, "We're just two lost souls swimming in a fishbowl, year after year..."
Life as a pastor's family is like swimming in a fishbowl for sure. With that comes those who enjoy your presence and beauty and those who stare and gawk and find all the ugly traits and unclean and unkempt waters in your fishbowl.
Today, I will talk about a recent instance (although definitely not the first or the last) where I was wrongfully and hurtfully mocked, belittled and accused by those who claim to be in faith but yet refuse to even give their name or where they hail from. (oh internet, the joys and woes you have brought). Which prompted me then to read the book "Pastors and their Critics" by Joel Beeke and Nick Thompson and I found so much encouragement!!
