In Part 2, Steph and I quickly move on to more advanced harmony and have a go at analyzing and recreating the vocals of "Africa" by Toto.

In this first of two parts, my longtime friend and bandmate Steph and I cover the basics of vocal harmony by singing a simple melody over a single chord. Then we harmonize the chorus of one of our favourite songs to perform with our cover band, "Teenage Dirtbag" by Wheatus.

It's a shorter, smoother, lower-volume episode of Pat Flanigan's jam space! Sometimes life happens and the only time when you can record your weekly one-man talk show about making music is Sunday night at 11:30pm! Let's recap what videos I published on YouTube to save you the hassle of having to watch them, plus I cover 5 important tips I think you should apply if you want to start singing harmony.

Enough chat; let's get down to some music! I've been programming drums for 20 years and have recently published not one but two YouTube videos on how to get better at it. Still, let's go deep into the tips I gave in those videos and hopefully they'll help you make better beats, create better drum parts and make some great music!

We've tackled the "who?" in Episode 1, now here's the "why?". Why would you keep playing music, making YouTube videos, recording podcasts and doing all those creative things if no one's consuming your content? I know first hand how that feels and discuss that and other motivational things in Episode 2!
