As Pat Novak leaves his office an old man is mowed down by a car on the corner of the street. Pat bent over the old man and turned him on his back. He was breathing heavily and asked Novak to help him. He has two envelopes one is money which he offers to Novak the other is to be kept sealed and given to John St. John but before the man can explain any more he takes his last breath of air and dies.
