Paterson New Jersey in the early 19 hundreds was one of the main producers of silk in the United States and the home of multiple different immigrant groups. When it came time for these immigrant workers to go on strike they were going to need some help. Preferably from those experienced with bringing such varied groups together. As luck would have it though the IWW had that experience in another mill town a bit of the ways up the coast in Lawrence Massachusetts.
