Dr. Collier, MD, FACP is an associate professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan Medical Shool where she serves as the director of the Program on Health, Spirituality, and Religion and as associate program director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program. She presents Health as a Right Relationship. Goals of this presentation: Be fierce supporters of life and able to defend this position at all stages of life. Questions presented: What is Health? Is it a biomedical definition of health? Does abortion disrupt one of the most fundamental relationships, that of mother and child? Is anything we have the technical expertise to do considered healthcare? Rather, is health right relationship, shalom? Relationship of mom and baby is not only at the level of their bodies, but at a cellular level. Relationship, as when Jesus "took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village" Mark 8:23. A challenge to root dignity in the image of God in all human beings. The beginning of a human being is fertilization.
