From the earliest ages, we learn how to have relationships based on the relational patterns of the people who raise us. As we grow up and find new ways of relating, what we might not realize is that we also base our relationships with others on how we think God relates to us. Simply by looking at how we relate to others (stern, demanding, unforgiving or gracious, accepting, patient, and loving), we get a window into our deepest beliefs about God. How does a person shake off a lifetime of conditioning to approach relationships differently?
