September 10, 2017 Death by Comparison
Living under grace doesn’t mean we no longer evaluate the rightness of our actions (that leads us to ignoring things that could potentially devour us), but it does mean we no longer have to live under the weight of comparing ourselves to others or...

August 27, 2017 The Figment of Freedom
The ultimate goal of our faith is freedom, something God longs to give freely and completely. But true freedom is much more complex than we think. Much of what we call freedom is more like anarchy and it’s not really freeing.

August 20, 2017 Misguided Zeal
The things that most threaten our abundance in Jesus are things that appear to be good, maybe even godly. When we allow our pet causes and concerns to overshadow or worse, supplant the Gospel, we are in serious danger, our faith is robbed of its power...

August 13, 2017 Empty Promises
430 years before God gave the law, he made a promise and the substance of that promise was simple, “I am going to bless you and you will be a blessing.” For some reason, we don’t feel as though believing that promise is enough and so we wear God out...

August 06, 2017 Hollow Actions
Since none of us are able to actually live a good life, it’s tempting to pretend like we do. Unfortunately pretending is a complete waste of time; it only leaves us worn and weary. Being “good people” is not God’s standard. Jesus came not to make bad...

July 30, 2017 Wasted Struggles
Like classified documents, when it comes to sharing our stories we present highly redacted scripts, with our most unflattering and painful moments blacked out. By doing so our stories become hollow and have no real power to connect with or help...

July 23, 2017 A Secure Destiny
Although we’re all trying to live “happily ever after”, Jesus is the only guarantee you’ll ultimately have a good ending to your story. No matter how well you fight and plan, life doesn’t promise you a good ending. Too often we see good people’s lives...

July 16, 2017 Purpose
Lots of people can give you advice on what they think you’d be great at, or what makes for a good life, or a lucrative salary, but only Jesus knows you well enough (you were made through him) to be able to speak into your life a sense of calling that...
