The face of Barabbas is truly the face of good fortune. He had the best day of his life when Jesus took his place on that Friday. When we consider what happened that day we can see how we have much in common with Barabbas. We have an:

Today we see the revelation of Jesus as the coming King. It involves both a false concept and a true concept of His coming. In the same way, we also lean into either a false concept or a true concept of why Jesus came.

When we learn the "Golden Rule", there can be a familiarity that comes with it that allows us to sort-of practice it. Jesus speaks to the people in this passage that loving others, including our enemies, is not only good, but required.

Jesus turns the heads of the disciples as He teaches them the Kingdome attitudes of reliance and confidence in God vs chasing the things of the world.  He does so by paralleling blessings and woes.

Jesus calls the 12 disciples and makes them Apostles.  In this we learn that Jesus alone qualifies people for ministry.

Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath and is the only one that has a say in what is required on it.  The Sabbath is a shadow of the ultimate rest we receive in Jesus and we celebrate it on "The Lord's Day", Sunday.
