Nic Wallace  was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer in his spine. Nic researched ways to heal it and when medical  professionals told him the cancer was very rare, he took it on himself to heal. Through medications, treatments, surgery and alternative modalities he held off progression for some time. He beat the odds and the prognosis timeline the doctors gave him. His journey left him having tumor involvement in the spine and bone creating pain and mobility challenges. His strength and perseverance led him to the gym, he incorporated yoga and Jiu Jitsu to help heal and move better. A few years later Nic’s cancer came back and progressed rapidly.  Nic ,recently married, has progressed to hospice level care. He and his wife have moved in with his mom Krishna.  As a mom of a dying child, she openly shares her journey in caregiving and helping her son during the end of life. She shares her experience and strategies for dealing with the challenges and “how to” be there for him in the most difficult times. Her perspective and mindset may help others faced with similar experiences. She opens up about her grief and emotions during this difficult journey.

As a young child, Mugisha faced extreme violence in Kongo and was forced to flee from home without his parents.  He shares his struggle to survive and the  journey which  led him to enter another country in Africa.   Hear his powerful story about how he learns to speak English, uses his passion to start a school that teaches refugee children how to read, write and speak English and life skills.  Mugisha shares how facing adversity has taught him to develop self discipline, solve problems and make progress in life.  He teaches his young students that even though they live in a challenging environment, they can choose to have a better life.  He impresses upon the young students to stop making excuses and take responsibility for their lives.

Trevor Maxwell is the founder of Man Up to Cancer and author of “Open Heart, Warrior Spirit: A Man’s Guide to Living with Cancer.” Trevor, 46, has been living with stage IV colon cancer since March of 2018. He has undergone five major surgeries, chemotherapy,  immunotherapy, and a clinical trial. He lives in Maine with his wife and two teenage daughters. He shares his inspiration and his journey helping men navigate the many challenges of cancer. Through his own journey he realized there were less men in support groups and the cancer community.
