Hola Hola! We are back with Season 2: Episode 10 of Conversaciones con Colegas. In this episode we bring you a charla with La Texas Edvocate, Jacqueline Martinez, a teacher who was born and raised in the bordertown of El Paso, Texas. Her mother is from Culiacan, Sinaloa, and her dad is from David, Panama with Chinese roots. She temporarily resigned from teaching due to the exacerbated toxicity of the profession amidst a pandemic. She has returned to the classroom in a non-toxic district but will continue to advocate and fight for teachers who haven't been as fortunate.

Our hope and vision for our podcast is to elevate the voices and needs of educators and students, especially those voices which are often silenced or overlooked. Jackie’s work aligns with LatinXChange in that she’d like to shift the mindset of teachers when it comes to the deeply rooted fear of retaliation. Her mission has been clear from the beginning: empower educators, normalize advocacy, end toxic leadership.
