Welcome to Season 2. We’re going to be talking about our 3rd rule of life – our relationships.

We are relational beings, created by a relational God for relationship. What relationships form us to be more like Jesus? And what are we doing to create, nurture, and deepen relationships of vulnerability and accountability? You may find it helpful to think through the categories of friendship, church, marriage, and family.

We are whole people. Mind and body. Immaterial and material. A holistic, embodied spirituality is key to becoming more like Jesus.

Welcome to Season 2. We’re going to be looking at creating a rule of life.

A rule of life is a schedule and set of practices and relational rhythms that help us create space in our busy world for us to be with Jesus, become like Jesus, and do what Jesus did—to live “to the full” ( John 10v10) in his kingdom, and in alignment with our deepest passions and priorities.

The first rule we want to create is about becoming like Jesus by renewing our mind.

What we give our attention to is the person we become. Through what scientists call neuroplasticity and Paul calls “the renewal of the mind” (Romans 12v2), we have a say in the kind of thought life we wire into our brain, and as a result, the kind of people we are being formed into — whether it’s being formed through the truth of God, or being formed through social media, news feeds, and entertainment queues.

The fire is an invitation to 'encounter'. For us the fire is the evening moment, the time just before your sleep. It is an 'examen' of the day and a re-commitment to the process of growth in God.

The road is an invitation and a commitment to 'Go'. For us the road is the midday interruption, set your alarm, remind yourself of who God is, look for the promptings of the Spirit and act on them.

The cave is an invitation and a commitment to ‘seek God’. For us as a community, the cave is the morning space. You will pause to be thankful, read scripture and reflect to set yourself for the day.
