95.7 The Fan presents a collection of discussions about the Houston Texans this week from Payne & Pendergast, In the Loop, and The Drive with Stoerner & Hughley. The crews react to the Jayden Higgins injury, what that means for the current wideout group, and whether Nick Caserio should go get a receiver. They also unpack some thoughts on Thursday's preseason loss to the Raiders. Plus, some thoughts on the importance of this year for C.J. Stroud. That and more this week on Best Of Texans on 95.7 The Fan!

In The Loop kicks off the show reacting to the Texans’ first-team offensive drive in last night’s preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders. C.J. Stroud and the starting offense put together a 69-yard touchdown drive, with Stroud completing 4-of-6 passes and Woody Marks finishing it off with a 20-yard touchdown run. ITL breaks down what looked encouraging and what the drive could tell us about the offense heading into the regular season. The conversation then shifts to the season-ending injury to Jayden Higgins, as ITL reacts to what DeMeco Ryans, C.J. Stroud and other Texans players had to say about losing the young receiver and how the team plans to move forward without him. The hour wraps with today’s Question of the Day: What’s the highest you’ve ever been ranked at something?

The crew and listeners share the highest they’ve ever been ranked at anything, whether it was sports, school, work, gaming, competition or something completely random.

Payne & Pendergast kicks off the show with a full reaction to the Texans’ preseason matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders, breaking down what stood out, which players helped themselves, and what the game revealed about Houston as the regular season gets closer. The conversation then shifts to C.J. Stroud’s contract situation, as P&P reacts to Adam Schefter reporting that the Texans and their franchise quarterback are not close on a contract extension, raising questions about how negotiations could play out moving forward. The first hour wraps with P&P Headlines, covering the biggest stories from around the sports world.

P&P continues its Texans-Raiders reaction by focusing on the things they liked from Houston’s performance, including the offensive line, rookies, and other players who made the most of their opportunities. The guys then hand out their Winners & Losers from Texans vs. Raiders, looking at who boosted their stock and who still has work to do. The conversation shifts across town to the Astros, as P&P reacts to Houston getting crushed 18-3 by the Angels and discusses what went wrong in an ugly night for the club.

Later, P&P hears from DeMeco Ryans and C.J. Stroud as they discuss losing wide receiver Jayden Higgins for the season with a torn ACL. The guys break down what the injury means for the Texans offense and have some fun with potential wide receivers Houston could bring in to help replace Higgins. The conversation then turns to Will Anderson Jr., as comments from the Texans star raise questions about whether one NFL team didn’t exactly have the best relationship with him during the pre-draft process. The guys also circle back to C.J. Stroud’s contract, reacting to Adam Schefter’s report that the two sides remain far apart on a new deal.

The show wraps with P&P Take-A-Mania, as Harry Douglas’ Jayden Daniels take enters the ring and the guys try to find a take strong enough to knock him off. Then P&P looks across the Texans roster and asks which player could have a breakout season and earn the first Pro Bowl selection of their career as Houston prepares to enter the regular season.
