PayPal (PYPL) Post-Mortem: ‘Big Miss,’ ‘Soft Guidance,’ and Slipping Market Share
Ted Rossman and MacKenzie Peterson round-table PayPal (PYPL) earnings and their new CEO announcement. MacKenzie calls the report “tough,” with a “big, big miss” and “very, very soft” guidance. “A change needs to happen,” she says, and discusses the task the new CEO has in front of him. Ted thinks this is “more of a PayPal story” than a fintech or payments sector story. “It’s a very competitive space,” he notes, with everything from peer-to-peer services to credit cards. Ted says investors should watch their “branded” space for a potential turnaround.
