One of the more severe of those potential drawbacks is completely destroying your reputation with those people that you hold in the highest regard.
The conversation quickly goes to dire warnings to the young generation of the perils of purposely holding up a fraudulent facade, whether it’s in real life, or on social media. Unfortunately, the guys agree that the current culture incentivizes fraudulent behaviors, and rewards it in many forms. In the end, the path to success and a steadfast reputation comes best served with a long stead history of doing the job, with zero expectations of seeking accolades. Instead, focusing on mastering that craft that you seek, and letting your knowledge of it be the reward.
