You're the guy everyone calls. The fire at work nobody else can put out, the buddy who needs a truck, the garbage disposal at your mom's house. You say yes every time, and you mean it. People count on you because you deliver.
But at 7:15, you pull into the driveway, turn off the engine, and don't get out. You need a minute. And a question shows up: when was the last time somebody asked how you're doing?
In this episode, Micah Murdock talks about the cape strong men put on early in life and never take off. Being the one who handles it is a strength. The problem is never clocking out of the role, and walking through your front door still on duty.
In this episode:
Your wife didn't marry a service provider. Your kids aren't looking for a handyman. They want the man under the cape, and you don't have to be any less strong to let them meet him.
This week's question: If you put the cape down for one evening at home, who would notice first?
“I don’t need therapy. I’m not broken.”
He’s right. He isn’t. But that one thought keeps a lot of capable men from ever taking a real look at coaching, usually because they’ve got the wrong picture of what it is.
In this episode I lay it out plainly: what coaching is, what it isn’t, and who it’s built for. We cover:
This isn’t about fixing what’s broken. It’s about sharpening what’s already capable.
Your challenge this week: pick one thing at home and run it through three questions. Where am I right now? Where do I want to go? How do I get there?
If you know a man who’s been on the fence, the guy at the grill saying “I’m not broken,” send this one his way.

You’re on a call that should’ve ended twenty-five minutes ago. Your daughter walks in, excited, holding a piece of paper. The words are already loaded: “Not now. Can’t you see I’m on a call?” And then, for the first time, you notice. Half a second before they leave your mouth.
That half second is the whole skill.
You’re not your thoughts. You’re the one who notices them. In this episode I break down The Watcher, a tool from session two of the Mental Fitness Framework and the one that makes every other tool usable in real time. We cover:
This isn’t about thinking positive or burying what you feel. It’s about seeing the thought clearly enough to decide whether you’re going to act on it.
Your challenge this week: three times a day, take five seconds and ask, “What am I thinking right now?” And every time you get home, ask one more: “What am I walking in with?”
If you know a man who’s sharp, capable, and still catches himself snapping at the people he loves most, send this to him. He’s probably closer than he thinks.

You're the steady one. Calm in the board meeting, patient with the client who hasn't earned it, the guy who handles the crisis while everyone else panics. So why does your son asking for help with his homework get a sharper answer than anyone at work has ever heard from you?
In this first episode of Peace and Success at Home, I break down what's going on in those two-second moments at home: the clipped reply, the sigh that says too much, the "I'm fine" that isn't. Nothing happens instantly. There's always a gap between what happens and how you respond. It's just fast enough to feel invisible. Once you can see that gap, you can widen it, and that's where you get to choose who shows up.
In this episode:
A question to take into your week: What's the most recent moment at home where you reacted bigger than the situation called for, and what story was running the show?
Want to go deeper? This episode previews The Watcher, one of the tools I use with clients 1:1 in the Mental Fitness Framework. If you're looking to create more peace and success at home, book a call: https://calendly.com/micah-murdockcoaching/30min
“I’m fine.” Two words that have cost men more than almost any others.
Six states. Twenty-two years in one career, rebuilt more times than I can count. A health fight that’s lasted over a decade. A twenty-six-year marriage that ended. And the number of people I really talked to about any of it while it was happening? Almost none.
This one’s different. No tool list, no framework breakdown. Just my story, told straight, and why I think a lot of capable men will recognize themselves in it. I share:
Some problems don’t respond to more effort. You can’t out-perform something that was never a performance problem. And home is usually where that shows up first.
Your challenge this week: think of one thing you’re carrying that you haven’t told anyone. Write it down in one sentence. Just get it outside your own head.
If there’s a man in your life who always says he’s fine, send this to him. Not because he’s falling apart. Because he’s probably carrying something, and this might help him share it with someone he loves.

You know how to win. You've built something real at work. People count on you, and when there's a problem, you're the guy who handles it. Then you pull into the driveway, and the skills that work everywhere else don't always make it through the front door.
That's not a character flaw. Think about how much time goes into training you for your career: school, continuing education, books, experts, podcasts. Now think about how much training you've had for the job that matters most. For most of us, close to none. So we figure it out on the fly. You're probably better at it than you give yourself credit for, but like everywhere else in your life, you want to get better.
That's what this show is for. I'm Micah Murdock, a mental fitness coach and the author of the Mental Fitness Framework. I've spent 22 years in education building ways for people to learn hard things and actually use them. I'm also a husband and dad in a blended family with lots of kids running around, so I've lived the chaos of soccer practice, recitals, homework, and dinner all landing on the same night.
This isn't therapy, and it isn't relationship advice. It's hands-on coaching. Every episode gives you tools you can use this week, like how to:
Because when things are solid at home, you see peace and success grow everywhere else.
