Eight weeks ago I had my son, and my start to motherhood absolutely rocked me.
In this episode I tell you what happened: my blood pressure reading at week 40 that ended my home birth plan, the induction, and the weeks of house-shaking colic cries that followed. My initiation into motherhood taught me more than all of my clinical training ever could.
I also get into a shift I've made in my own work and why I'm no longer aiming for "calm." I explain what I aim for now, and share the exact mantras we say out loud in our house when my son is crying.
As always: take what's useful for you and leave the rest !!

If you’ve ever felt lost in the modern parenting maze of screens, meltdowns, and boundaries... you’re not alone. In this episode, Heather breaks down the neuroscience behind screen time drama and gives you three powerful tools to create peace in your home (without villainizing technology).
You’ll learn:
1️⃣ Why not all screen time is created equal and how to tell the difference between connection-building vs. connection-breaking screen use.
2️⃣ How to “check yourself before you wreck yourself” by examining your own relationship with screens and modeling mindful tech habits for your kids.
3️⃣ What’s really happening inside a child’s developing brain, and why their “pause button” isn’t fully built yet.
Plus, Heather shares a key co-regulation insight: how your nervous system Bluetooths with your child’s, and how your calm presence teaches them balance in a hyper-stimulating world.
Bonus: Why your screen-time boundaries are valid and loving even if your child doesn’t like them in the moment—and how they protect your child’s attention, emotional stability, and long-term success.
Listen now to bring calm, connection, and clarity back to your family’s tech life.
In this episode, I’m breaking down what’s really going on underneath those power struggles… and sharing one of my favorite tools to help you hold limits and connection at the same time. This is a practical way for parents with different styles to get back on the same page—so your child feels safe, and you feel like yourself again.
Episode 2 — The Two Beliefs That Shape Everything for Your Child
This episode is simple and powerful. You’ll hear why two key beliefs—when felt deep in your body and transmitted to your child via co-regulation—can change the way your child handles frustration, risk, and connection.
Inside, I share how I use these beliefs in real life, what happens when one is missing, and why they work better together. You’ll also walk through a short practice to start wiring them into your own system today.
This is small shift in belief that makes a real difference in your child’s whole world.
What if helping your child grow didn’t have to feel so hard?
In this foundational episode, Heather Daly, holistic occupational therapist and co-regulation expert, shares the exact 3-step formula she uses in therapy sessions to support real growth—without the stress, power struggles, or overwhelm.
Inside this episode, you'll learn:
The Magic Learning Formula that unlocks development without pushing too far, too fast
Why “safety first” isn’t just a cliché—it’s a neurological necessity
The art of finding the “just right challenge” for your child—one that grows their nervous system and your confidence as a parent
Two real-life examples (including tummy time and sound sensitivity) to help you apply the formula today
This episode will help you build skills, connection, and confidence.
Mentioned in this episode:
The 3 S’s of the Magic Learning Formula
