Welcome back, my friend. After a long hiatus, I am happy to be back here with you for a new season of the Peaceful Soul podcast. My intention is to bring you conversations rich with soul and healing insights that support you to connect with the natural world and foster a sense of inner wholeness.
This episode is all about Ayurvedic Psychology and learning about the subtle energy organ you didn't know you had! You will learn the components of this energy organ and how it relates to healing trauma. I'll also guide you through specific practices and methods of creating safety in your nervous system helping you connect to your center. Today's episode will empower you to overcome mind chatter, heal the fragmented parts of self, help you enhance your intuition, and trust your own inner voice. We'll also cover how to discern between the voice of reason and the reactions from wounding and how to have a healthy relationship with your mind. We'll talk about the Vedic concept of Ego and how it differs from the Western psychology concept of ego (this amazed me when I first learned about it!). I'll teach you a practice to relate to inner hurt and heal unresolved emotions as well as how to overcome the new age dogma of love and light, so you can both prevent spiritual bypassing as well as getting lost in the darkness of shadow work.

We break down the Ayurvedic perspective on overcoming nervous system dysregulation from childhood. The physical benefits of chanting, how to tell the difference between intuition/divine guidance and ego mental chatter masquerading as your inner voice of reason. The 3 Types of Mind Food and what you should feed your mind for the greatest healing. We'll look at differences between various types of trauma-healing approaches, their benefits and limitations, and help empower you with tools for regaining your wholeness. How and when to do spiritual practices to make the greatest impact on healing trauma, including the most important time of day for healing early childhood trauma. Why willpower and changing your thoughts, doesn’t help you be nonreactive or resolve trauma. How to rewire samskaras, conditioned ways of being, and the nervous system every day into greater wholeness and genuine inner peace. A quick practice to self-assess your breathing type and how your type affects the circulation of prana/energy in your body. We'll also go into the foundation you need to lay before doing shadow work to avoid a healing crisis.

A soulful prayer practice to invoke the light of truth, supreme peace, inner wisdom and the light of consciousness. Today’s guided practice has been my primary mantra for the past couple of weeks as I’ve committed to my inner work, healing, and most importantly deep listening. When the world is intense and tumultuous, it’s especially important for us to rise in humility and fierce love. To be able to cultivate the power and presence to be with discomfort and intensity whether that’s arising within us or being aimed at us. Cultivating the light of inner peace within and a strong connection to your source of inner wisdom is important now more than ever. Today’s Sanskrit mantra meditation essentially translates to mean “I bow to the goodness within me, my inner wise teacher, the Self of All. The embodiment of Being, Awareness, and Bliss living within everything as its true nature, Supreme Peace. This energy needs no support, but sustains and supports all, illuminating the entire Universe with the Light of Consciousness.” This is a common yoga prayer in the Anusara yoga lineage and is a beautiful reminder to stay connected to your true Self, the Peaceful Soul within you.

Invoke heavy-duty divine protection, strength, and power. This mantra meditation has helped me reclaim my voice and help me speak my truth, it can also support you in sharpening your discernment, help you see and honor your boundaries, experience a deeper level of powerful, radical self-love, boosting your own innate feelings of self-worth, knowing your value and overflowing your fullness without feeling like you need to shrink, hide, or run away. If there’s anything happening in your life that you feel afraid to face or not strong enough to deal with, this mantra helps invoke a feeling of safety and supports all aspects of strengthening your inner sense of resilience. This mantra can be used to eliminate sorrow, obstacles and barriers. It has an energy that helps overcome opposition and grants self-control and self-discipline. Dum is a seed sound that amplifies this mantra connecting us to the feminine aspect of solar energy. Durga is the head of the divine army riding a lion which projects the energy of the protective form of the divine mother who saves us from difficulties. On a physical health level, Ayurveda says this mantra can strengthen the digestive fire and can be used to burn away toxins (ama) working at the tissue level. It also neutralizes any negative force projected at us, creating a protective shield, increasing self-confidence, reducing insecurity or feelings of lack of self-worth. Commonly used to overcome challenges and dreadful circumstances, but can also be used to imbue blessings of creativity and good fortune.

Sometimes when we feel lonely, we're craving connection, we feel lack and scarcity of love. What if you could just flip the script not just intellectually but viscerally and tap into an infinite wellspring of love and then overflow that love unto others and into important areas of your life? Imagine having the inner resourcefulness to GIVE that which you desire to RECEIVE. Today’s guided Mantra Meditation practice will help you tap into that essence of pure love within which naturally gives way to us starting to give that which we desire to receive...which then transcends the exchange of giving and receiving altogether and we simply BECOME it. This Mantra Meditation will help you EMBODY and BE the LOVE that you truly are, the love that is the core of your essence. Where conditional love says “I’ll love you if you do this for me, give that to me, act this way around me…” Unconditional Love says “I love you exactly as you are right now, in this moment, you don’t have to change a thing. I love and accept you fully.” What would your relationship be like with yourself if you loved yourself unconditionally? Practice this mantra and let me know how it goes.

What do you do when life brings you to your knees and you’re in pain, confused, and don’t know what to do? I’ve been there so many times, and prayer has been my primary transformational practice. I was never formally taught how to “pray” and I used to think I didn’t know how to but with an open heart and a commitment to inner peace and freedom, I’ve been blessed to experience the power of prayer first-hand many times throughout my life. In today’s episode, I will show you how you can heal your life and body as well as positively influence the lives of those you love. I will introduce you to a very simple, accessible way to cultivate your personal relationship with the divine so you can create a prayer practice that is all your own. You can create an individual relationship with God/Goddess, Source Energy, Beloved, Creator whatever feels most aligned and true for you. I’ll share with you some of my personal experiences of the power of prayer through inspiring stories and also guide you through an easy and deeply transformational prayer practice that I’ve used during times of my deepest challenges, sadness, heartbreak, panic, anxiety, and insomnia. Prayer has been my #1 go-to when I couldn’t find the answers to my own physical health ailments as well as confusion around my life’s purpose, painful endings of relationships, and various pivotal points in my life. It’s also been an enriching regular daily gratitude practice that helps me cultivate an intimate relationship with the divine allowing me get into the flow and trust my own inner guidance to inspire the next step on my path.
