Pagan idol worship is something modern men typically mock. The image of natives bowing before an inanimate totem-pole, believing that by performing a ritual dance and leaving baskets of fine vegetables (to rot in the sun beneath the carving) might somehow curry divine favor, is viewed as "savage ignorance." Yet, principally, the exact same is "religiously" and routinely promulgated today, ironically, by most University Professors and many civic leaders. It's called "Statism." The totem-pole has simply been replaced with something more dangerous than a wood carving...government. The only difference? This "totem-pole" takes your vegetables by force...and re-distributes them to other citizens, right AFTER they've sat just long enough to spoil.
