So, I’m getting a haircut at the home of a stylist to whom I have been going since we moved to Lynchburg 9 years ago. During that time she has worked in three different shops and in the past 2 years or so she has opened her own business in her home. It is a lovely and relaxing setting for a haircut.

As I wind down and approach retirement many transitions are taking place. One of the most labor intensive transitions, at least in our situation, has been moving from a 4-bedroom house with a full basement and attic space to a retirement farm that has a large horse facility and a small 2-bedroom living space with no basement and no attic space.

We always intended to downsize when retirement came but, shall we say, we wanted to take it a lot slower than we are having to do it now!?

Recently I have been asked, now several times, to play Hymn of Promise at Memorial Services. I confess that it would not be the first song I would have picked, but the more I play it, and read the lyrics, the more this familiar hymn has grown on me and the message is one of inspiration.

Ths is Pastor John's last day with us. He is retiring. We will miss him!
