  • Balance
Trusting God At All Times Daily Devotional. My father was a humble, friendly man. He was so humble that one time we were at a fishing store trying to buy some bait. When the female clerk heard the two of us talking about the bloodworms we would bring from home she began to question Dad about how he raised them.
(Now, you need to know there was no “raining” going on. We just went to the edge of the back yard and dug them up.)
When Dad began to tell her how he encouraged his little bloodwomk population,, Dad seemed embarrassed to use the word “manure” with her.
That was my father - willing to talk to almost anyone in his humble way.
He would end most conversations with, “Come by and see us sometime.” I used to wonder as a small boy what would happen if they all came!

  • Light In The World
Trusting God At All Times Daily Devotional. So….. I saw a picture that touched my heart.
There is a young woman in nursing scrubs standing beside a man, clearly a patient because of the hospital bracelet on his wrist, and he’s sitting in a chair.
The man is holding a dog - a blond scruffy looking dog that reminds me of my beloved Nado who I had to help cross the rainbow bridge a few months ago. I miss that boy much more than I thought I would.
If the memory of Nado wasn’t enough, the story behind the picture was even mor4e powerful.
The man and his dog lived alone. But the man became ill, critically ill. So ill he had a lengthy hospital stay and there was no one to care for his dog so he made the second more difficult decision a dog owner has to make - he had to give up his dog to the humane society.. .

  • Washing
Trusting God At All Times Daily Devotional/ Have you ever been the recipient of a random act of kindness?
Maybe the person ahead of you at the coffee bar paid for your coffee?
Has a stranger ever helped carry your groceries to the car?
Did a kind word lift your spirits?
We once went to a local steak house, me, my wife and our daughter. It was a Sunday after church. AFter we ordered and enjoyed our food the server informed us that the bill had been paid by an un-named family who gave them money and asked them to randomly buy another family their meal.
It was a humbling experience that I want to pay forward.

  • Subway Trains
Trusting God At All Times Daily Devotional. Have you ever tried to board a subway in a big city during rush hour?
It can be a difficult experience if you are unaccustomed to how things work.
You need to make sure you get on a train going in the right direction.
You need to know what stop to get off.
And if you have to transfer to another train… well… that can be an ordeal in and of itself.. There is jostling and a closeness that can be uncomfortable.
There are people who thrive in such an environment. I went to school in Boston and after graduation we went back with our children to do all the touristy things….

  • 10 Commandments
Trusting God At All Times Daily Devotional. There was a time when the 10 commandments were so important they were posted in both schoolrooms and on courthouse walls. They speak of a higher power, respect, honor, community and the difference between right and wrong.
Everybody can name one or 2.
    Honor thy father and mother
    Thou shalt not kill
    Thou shalt nor steal.
It takes some practice to memorize att 10
