SPIRITUAL LAWYERS
The Jews were ardent believers in the law of Moses, they also were very religious and loved to live according to the laws. On the contrary, Jesus came to fulfill the law not to abolish it but they didn’t understand this. He actually went to the temple on the Sabbath day to worship as most of them but had compassion on an impotent man and ministered healing to him.
On seeing this miracle can you imagine the problem the Jews had: That He healed the man on a Sabbath day. What a flimsy reason, it seems they forgot that He actually came to the temple to observe the Sabbath but saw a need to heal that man. The heart of man is desperately wicked. How can one prefer someone to wallow in pain just because of the law? In this dispensation we have the Holy Spirit.
He is the one that leads us and tells us what to do per time. The Good Samaritan was probably led as the Priest and Levite were rushing to observe the Sabbath. Don’t neglect helping others and reaching out especially when led by the Holy Spirit. Do not always operate by laws when you’re sure you’ve heard from the Holy Spirit. Just do what He tells you to do and be wary of being spiritually legalistic and not fulfilling purpose. God bless you.
