The recent disaster on Maui serves as a sobering reminder that we, the church, are called to be resilient in a broken world. In the beginning, when man chose sin rather than trust God, the earth became fallen. As a result,
we experience pain, natural disasters, and death. However, God’s redemptive plan is found in Jesus, who not only conquered death by being our sinless sacrifice but will one day restore the world to its proper order. Until that day, we are called to be His ambassadors; bringing hope to a hopeless world. Practically we are called to love people through serving others and sharing the Gospel (who Jesus is and what he has done). Scripture also teaches us that this world is temporary and we should focus on things that are eternal. Instead of being overcome when there is chaos, we are called to rise up in the midst of the chaos.
