    Alan Woolf, MD, MPH, FAAP, FACMT, FAACT discusses water quality and children's health in this episode of Pediatric Environmental Health Radio. Dr. Alan Woolf is Co-Director of the Pediatric Environmental Health Center at Boston Children’s Hospital and its Pediatric Environmental Health Fellowship Training Program and Co-Director of the Region 1 New England Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Unit. He is a Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Woolf is a past-president of both the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology (AACT) and the American Association of Poison Control Centers. Dr. Woolf has published extensively on childhood poisonings, poisoning prevention and toxic reactions to heavy metals. He is the Medical Editor of two books: The Children’s Hospital Guide to Your Child’s Health and Development and most recently: The History of Modern Clinical Toxicology (Elsevier 2022).

  • Episode 3: Protecting Children from the Health Effects of Wildfires with Gina Solomon, MD, MPH
    Gina Solmon, MD, MPH is the Principal Investigator for the Western States Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Unit and the Chief of the Division of Occupational, Environmental and Climate Medicine at UCSF. In her role at UCSF, she oversees clinical occupational and environmental health at UCSF Health, Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and the San Francisco Veterans Administration Medical Center. She is also the Program Director of the UCSF Occupational and Environmental Medicine Residency program, teaches medical and nursing students, and leads the research efforts in the Division. Before coming to UCSF, Dr. Solomon founded and directed the Achieving Resilient Communities program at the Public Health Institute, where she worked from 2018-2023. From 2012-2018 she was appointed by Governor Brown as the Deputy Secretary for Science and Health at the California Environmental Protection Agency. Dr. Solomon previously served as the director of the occupational and environmental medicine residency program at UCSF from 2008-2012, the associate director of the UCSF Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Unit from 2003-2009, and as a Senior Scientist at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) from 1996-2012.

  • Episode 2: Childhood Cancer, the Environment and the Role of Community Health Workers with Mark Miller, MD, MPH, and Erica Guerrero MS, MPAS, PA-C.
    • Mark Miller MD, MPH is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). He is also the Director Emeritus of the Western States Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Unit (WSPEHSU) at UCSF lead for the National PEHSU Childhood Cancer and the Environment Program. He was the director of the Community Outreach and Translation Core of the Center for Integrative Research on Childhood Leukemia and the Environment at UC Berkeley (CIRCLE). He received his medical degree and completed a Pediatric residency at Michigan State University. He received his Masters in Public Health in Environmental Health Sciences from UC Berkeley and completed a residency with the California Department of Health Services in Preventive Medicine. Erica Guerrero, MS, MPAS, PA-C, is a PA (Physician Assistant) in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center El Paso. Erica began working with the Southwest Center for Pediatric Environmental Health (SWCPEH) in 2018 as a principal collaborator. The opportunity to work with SWCPEH has sparked a deeper interest in issues related to pediatric environmental health. Additionally, she is passionate about environmental health and health issues along the U.S.-Mexico border.
