Wirkt es nicht wie textile, feine Spitze? Das dachte ich mir, als ich erste Versuche mit zarten Prägungen für ein Mobile startete. Nun sitze ich in meinem Sessel, die Füße auf der Fensterbank, und schaue völlig entspannt zu, wie sich die Spiralen langsam drehen. Ich beobachte das Spiel von Licht und Schatten, die wandernden Strukturen und kleinen Lichtpunkte.

Die feinen Prägungen des Papiers fangen jede Bewegung ein und schaffen einen Moment der Ruhe, des Schauens, der Achtsamkeit und Inspiration. Perfekt zum Abschalten und Träumen – etwas, das wir doch alle von Zeit zu Zeit brauchen.

Hannah Schafer is a yachtswoman and civil engineer whose belief in the need to raise the alarm about the climate crisis using direct action has brought her into sharp conflict with the state. How does a conscientious, well-informed individual act when they can see the rest of us ignoring the warnings and sleep-walking into disaster? And how on earth does that result in prison sentences? During this series of videos, Hannah reflects on her journey towards climate awareness and the human rights issues that are tied up with it. Hers is just one example of the thousands who have dared to put their freedom at risk since 2018 when Extinction Rebellion was formed, and since 2023 when the British government brought its heavy fist down on those who oppose the UK selling arms to Zionists who have escalated their vicious decades-long oppression of the people of Gaza and the West Bank in retaliation for the deadly Hamas attack on 7th October. After this recording, Hannah joined the Sumud Flotilla which aimed to take much-needed humanitarian aid to Gaza.
