- Damaged Video8 recording, and how I mitigated it
A look at a damaged recording I encountered in my 8mm digitization project, and what I tried to get the best possible playback of it.

A gift from my friend Marc and a trip to the thrift store yielded some excellent upgrades for the Dell Optiplex 780. Here we install and test them, and benchmark them against the old parts.
0 min - New video format - 720/60p test
Thanks to a viewer, I learned how to use the program Handbrake to de-interlace the video from my camcorders such that the result is a much nicer looking 60 FPS output. Here I demonstrate the video quality and show how to configure Handbrake.
0 min - New wifi card for my desktop PC - TP Link N900
I bought a brand new dual-band 802.11n card for the Dell Optiplex 780. Lets test it and see how much faster it is than the old card.
0 min - Dell Optiplex 780 (2010) - My new main computer
A look at an excellent older PC that still has a ton of useful life left in it. Also a look at my desktop computing station.
0 min - Discharging and venting the Radio Shack Portavision's CRT
With the help of the Videokarma forums, I determined that the 5" color CRT in this TV set is bad and can't be fixed. I want to remove the CRT to use as an ornament to admire, so in this video I gingerly discharge and vent the tube.
RIP Portavision. Your mode of failure was stupid.
