The annual NATO leaders' summit in The Hague, Netherlands, is set to focus on increasing defense spending, a priority for both President Trump and Secretary Rutte. However, the goal seems to be in doubt due to President Trump's announcement of the Asian pivot, which prioritizes Asia over European defense. The Ukraine War persists, and NATO has little to show for its efforts, with a significant portion of the defense budget allocated to military aid for Ukraine. The European Union and member states need to increase military defense spending for deterrence and to position European countries at the forefront of defense and peacekeeping efforts. Secretary Rutte's proposed spending goals call for NATO to increase its defense spending from 2% of GDP to 5% of GDP. However, Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez expressed disapproval of the plan, stating that it would be "unreasonable" and "unproductive." This could undermine NATO and create a division within the alliance concerning its commitment.

The Korean Peninsula has been embroiled in conflict since June 1950, with North Korea actively participating in the Ukraine War and providing military support. South Korea has signed weapons agreements with NATO European countries, particularly Poland, and has been involved in NATO as a partner country. Despite facing public setbacks, such as the botched launch of a destroyer, North Korea has positioned itself for military ascendance. The new South Korean president, Lee Jae-myung, has sought rapprochement with North Korea and has publicly aimed to re-establish dialogue with the North. North Korea has stated that its nuclear program is off-limits to negotiations with South Korea or the United States, and it may make humiliating demands of South Korea as it tries to reproachment with the North. The situation on the Korean Peninsula seems to favor North Korea, as its nuclear program has resurfaced in discussions, often for less than favorable reasons.North Korea's nuclear weapons are being used as a means to secure international aid, a strategy that has played a significant role in preserving the country's dynastic power. The international community seems willing to assist North Korea in preserving its dynasty and control of nuclear weapons. North Korea is shifting from conventional military forces to relying more on nuclear capabilities, particularly through its extensive missile program. To strengthen its nuclear capabilities, North Korea needs to miniaturize its warheads and develop re-entry vehicles. Russia could provide valuable assistance in this area to speed up the development curve. North Korea is also constructing a new uranium enrichment site, which aligns with Kim Jong Un's statements about the expansion of its nuclear arsenal. The interconnection between nuclear weapons and the Kim dynasty is a fact that other countries must accept, forcing them to determine how to coexist with a bellicose, nuclear-armed North Korea.

NASA has outlined its criteria for a new space station that will replace the International Space Station when it is retired in 2030. The NASA goals are to replace the government run space station with commercial companies creating and running the space station that NASA will lease space for its goals for technology creation and gain experience in long endurance human space flight.
