In 2009, the Penfriend, from RNIB, was designed to be a simple label reader that could help a blind or partially sighted person record audio messages onto barcode labels to help with a variety of everyday tasks.

Today, July 3rd 2019, the 3rd generation of the popular Penfriend has had an update and has become more versatile than ever before.

RNIB Connect Radio's Allan Russell spoke to Jennie Mather, from RNIB, and Sarah Mathews who, since recently losing her sight, has found the Penfriend invaluable.
