There is only One whose dominion is everlasting and neither kings nor pandemics can overcome it.

Samuel provides his final exhortations to the nation of Israel has he hands over leadership to King Saul.

Saul was not ready to be king. But through God's spirit, Saul was transformed and equipped to take on the position to which he was called.

The flashes of Saul's humility would shine most fully in the humbleness of our true King.

Continuing through 1 Samuel, Saul encounters the Holy Spirit and is transformed to accomplish the task God has given him as God continues to do today.

Saul finds that the ordinary events of life, arranged by God, have led him to the prophet Samuel and the verge of kingship in Israel.

In giving up the kingship of God to be like the other nations, the Israelites would become slaves of their chosen king.

We say that Jesus is the reason for the season, but what is that reason?
