The Penny Men return to the DC Super Quiz — but first, detours!
Gregory, Ben, and Tom attempt to:
Once the dust settles, Tom tests the gang with a round of “Secret Identity Showdown,” matching real names to DC alter-egos! Expect triumphs, near-misses, and the occasional “who was that guy again?”
Highlights include:
It’s chaos, it’s comedy, it’s canon (at least for now)!
Frankie Valli! Seinfeld answering machines! Wrong lyrics! Before the quiz even starts, the Penny Men derail into December 1963 vs Summer of ’69 vs Believe It or Not, George Isn’t at Home!
Then it’s straight into the DC Comics Super Quiz of Doom: Lightning Round Edition, where Tom takes up the Quizmaster mantle, Gregory flexes his encyclopedic brain, and Ben keeps writing Superwoman over and over!
Expect:
It’s chaotic, it’s rapid-fire, and it’s the only comic book quiz show where the invisible kid might actually be John Cena!
“The most fun you can have without a Lady Cop on call!”
The quiz saga continues! Tom takes over as quizmaster, Gregory leans into his Superman complex, and Ben… well, Ben tries not to fall too far behind!
Along the way, the Penny Men tackle the truly important questions, such as:
Which obscure DC character is secretly cooler than Batman?
Can Gregory spin every answer into a Superman metaphor? (Yes.)
How does Mitch Hedberg accidentally sneak his way into the DC Universe?
And will Ben ever claw his way out of last place?
Expect wild tangents, questionable trivia knowledge, and a quiz so “super” it might just destroy Metropolis!
Because when the Penny Men do trivia, you don’t just get answers…
…you get three grown men arguing about them until the multiverse collapses!
The Penny Men are back with part four of the DC Super Quiz of Doom!
Tom tightens the stopwatch, Gregory gets the Superman blues, and Ben swoops in as Gotham’s moody guardian! From Captain Boomerang’s double shifts to colossal mix-ups with Legionnaires, the gang dives into secret origins, Infinity, Inc. headaches, and every obscure corner of DC Comics you forgot existed!
Which Green Lantern cousin roller-skates across power lines? Who threw acid at Harvey Dent? And will Greg ever escape “Greg doesn’t know what it is”?
Tune in for Doiby Dickles, Ambush Bug, red kryptonite monkey trouble, and more as the quiz grinds on toward a six-part epic!
The DC Comics Quiz continues! Tom is the Quizmaster, Gregory and Ben are locked in combat, and things get very nerdy. In this episode we cover:
Klingon vs. Romulan ship confusion and the space whales of Voyage Home 🖖
Oppressive movies, rap grandmas, and why you should not watch Human Centipede with your mom
Alter Ego, All-Star Squadron deep cuts, and the mystery of Danette Riley 🔥
Blue Devil, Doll Man, and the Eradicator’s “doctor” problem
Aquaman’s pets: Topo the octopus and Tusky the walrus 🐙
The Tornado Twins, Wonder Woman’s kangaroo, and who killed Robin’s parents
Rocket Reds, Sunboy, Hawk & Dove, Donna Troy’s identity crisis, and Wonder Woman’s boyfriend (hint: not Chris Pratt)
Uncle Marvel vs. Mentor, and more Silver Age/Golden Age oddities
All that plus bonus questions, side tangents, and a cat attack! 🐈
The Pennymen return for DC Comics Quiz: Part Deuce!
Tom resumes his role as quizmaster, armed with secret identities, obscure first appearances, and way too much knowledge from Who’s Who and back issues of Adventure Comics! Gregory holds the lead, Ben tries to catch up, and we all learn way more about 1940s Fawcett Comics than anyone asked for!
Along the way:
Deadman’s ghostly day job
The Terra family tree (there’s at least three!)
Kite-Man: hell yeah, Charlie Brown
Starman Batman? Batman Starman? Sure, why not
Bat-Cow joins the Bat-Family
Animal Man, Buddy Blank, and OMAC — oh my
“What city was Superman born in?” is not the easy question you think it is
From Eclipso to the Outsiders, from Robin V to Star-Spangled Kid, this quiz runs deep!
Come for the trivia, stay for the meltdowns over Cryptopolis!
It’s game time on The Penny Men!
Tom steps into the role of Quiz Master (and “the greatest criminal mind of our time”) while Gregory and Ben battle it out as contestants — armed only with dry-erase boards and half-remembered comic book trivia!
What’s on the line? Glory, shame, and the chance to prove who actually paid attention when Tom explained DC lore all those years ago!
This round includes:
The Red Tornado’s cooking pot origins 🍲
Ultra the Multi-Alien’s lightning-bird leg ⚡🦅
Captain Comet vs. Adam Strange (space mix-ups galore) 🚀
Flamebird, Spy Smasher, Atom Smasher, Swamp Thing, and more 🌿
Bonus rounds about Scribbly Jibbit, kryptonite side effects, and who really raised Bruce Wayne 👶🦇
Expect wrong turns, confident bluffs, and shocking pulls from the deep-cut archives of DC, Fawcett, Charlton, and beyond!
Who will survive? Who will guess Empress? Who will fall to the KGBeast? Find out in the Penny Men’s DC Comics Secret Identity Quiz Show!
The Penny Men continue their discussion about the X-Men classes theory:
X-Men Generations of Students
Class 1 – Original Five (1960s)
Cyclops, Jean, Beast, Iceman, Angel.
The very first Xavier students.
Class 2 – Giant-Size Team (1970s)
Wolverine, Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Banshee, Thunderbird, etc.
The “Krakoa rescue team.”
⚠️ Retcon 1.5 Team (Deadly Genesis, revealed in 2000s)
Vulcan, Darwin, Petra, Sway — the “secret” team Xavier sent before Wolverine’s.
Class 3 – New Mutants (1980s)
Dani Moonstar, Cannonball, Wolfsbane, Sunspot, Magik, Karma, Warlock, etc.
Class 4 – Generation X (1990s)
Jubilee, Husk, M, Chamber, Synch, Skin, Penance, etc.
Class 5 – Grant Morrison / New X-Men Era (2000s)
School goes public, lots of new mutant kids.
Big names: Quentin Quire (Kid Omega), Stepford Cuckoos, Pixie, Glob Herman.
Academy X adds Surge, Elixir, Prodigy, Hellion, Dust, Rockslide, Mercury, Anole, Wallflower, Wither, etc.
X-23 starts rising to prominence here.
Class 6 – Generation Hope / Schism Era (2010s)
“M-Day” wipes out new mutant births → only Hope Summers is born.
Cable raises her, she awakens new mutants (“The Five Lights”).
Schism splits Cyclops (Utopia, militant) vs. Wolverine (Jean Grey School, teachers again).
Students include Oya, Velocidad, Primal, Transonic, Kid Omega, Genesis, Shark Girl, Eye-Boy, Nature Girl, Broo, Sprite, etc.
Multiple overlapping titles: Generation Hope, Wolverine and the X-Men, Gen X vol. 2.
⚠️ This era also folds into Krakoa, where all mutants — good/bad, all ages — live together in their own nation. Resurrection protocols make death temporary.
Class 7 – Exceptional X-Men (2020s)
Post-Krakoa, schools reformed.
Emma Frost & Kitty Pryde run a new mutant school in New York.
Students are being recruited one by one as their powers manifest.
👉 So the “seven classes” = seven school-era waves of students (with Utopia and Krakoa acting as in-between non-school phases)!
💤 Sleepwalker back issues, Bob Budiansky Transformers lore, and Spider-Man team-ups!
🌀 Dr. Fate vs. The Spectre… sorta!
📺 Cloak & Dagger had a TV show??
🦸♂️ Then the big pivot: Ben leads the crew through the eras of X-Men — from the First Class (Cyclops, Jean, Iceman, Beast, Angel, plus Prof X) ➡️ the All-New, All-Different team (Storm, Wolverine, Colossus, Nightcrawler, etc.) ➡️ the New Mutants and beyond!
We cover:
It’s comics hoarding, mutant roll calls, and way too many robot legs — all in Part Four of You Can’t Have These Comics!
