A participant on the Democracy Spring March of April 2016 joined in Philadelphia, walked to Baltimore, MD, and then decided to leave because of difficulties with 99 Rise co-founder Kai Newkirk, whose organization, and who personally, created and led (and still leads) the march.

Democracy Spring just reached its ultimate destination, Washington DC this morning, where they'll be doing a sit-in on the steps of the House of Representatives.

"They were even suggesting that people use Ziploc bags to piss in and properly dispose of them."

Mike is (still) playing a supportive role for marchers and also has significant frustrations with Democracy Spring leadership, including Kai Newkirk.

Allegations:

- Making it extremely difficult to coordinate bathroom breaks for hundreds of people, including resisting a relatively inexpensive idea of hitching a trailer to Mike's truck with porta-potties. And pulling up in their own large and new RV for leadership only.

- Forcing people to speak and dress in certain ways.

- Dismissing the marchers input, interests, and needs, and stealing the limelight when the cameras and politicians show up.

Spirited and in-depth conversation with former military and intelligence community member, Sean. Sean's main concern about Bernie Sanders is how his statement of "sick and tired hearing about your damn emails" is not an expression of how the people want to talk more about the issues affecting their day-to-day lives, but rather a dismissal of the act itself--that Bernie Sanders believes that Hillary Clinton's actions in this matter are not severe enough to warrant scrutiny.

Obviously this is serious enough to warrant scrutiny. Obviously they have great implications for national security, and could potentially/perhaps have already jeopardized peoples lives. But what Bernie Sanders is saying, of course, is that the issues that should be focused on in his campaign are those that impact people on a day-to-day basis. Such as campaign-finance, education, stagnant wages, unjust criminal justice, and medical care.

If Sean could be convinced that Bernie Sanders does in fact believe that the email issue is an important one--a critical one--despite not directly talking about it, then it would be much easier for him to consider Bernie Sanders as someone he might vote for. He says that the only way he could be convinced is to hear Bernie Sanders himself say how serious and issue this is.

Really lucky to of met this gentleman. Bruce came to a petition signing to get Bernie Sanders on the balance in New Jersey, and myself on the ballot as a delegate for him. We started talking, and I want to hear more, so we set up an appointment at a local dive, And just started talking about Bernie Sanders. We have been working together ever since.

A conversation with Wolf PAC members Ariana Tsiattalos (NJ state director), AJ Vincente, and Mohit from Wolf PAC. Wolf PAC is a nonpartisan organization whose purpose is to defeat citizens United and get money out of politics. These three members individually, privately, support Bernie Sanders.

The four of us organized a "Bernie 101" presentation to teach people more about Bernie Sanders, and the basics of getting started volunteering. It is now a twice-weekly meeting for the campaign, and officially sanctioned by the campaign.
