Dave Overlund and I have similar backgrounds. We both grew up as big sports fans in Minnesota and pursued a career in sports broadcasting while studying at St. Cloud State University. Dave has stayed on that path, working in radio in St. Cloud for several years.
In December, when St. Cloud State cut its football program, I took notice to an opinionated article Dave wrote about the sudden decision. It expressed a sentiment shared by many and called out some of the decision makers at the University.

Dave joined me for this conversation to discuss that fiasco now that nearly two months have passed. Plus we talk about St. Cloud itself, a city with changing demographics including many from Somalia.
Kobe Bryant died a few days before the recording so we spend a few minutes sharing our perspectives on him and the aftermath of his death.

Alec Sewell is an Australian that has traveled to North America three different times in his life and has a mind filled with observations. He and I met randomly on one of his trips to the United States and have stayed in contact over the years. We agree that the way Australia approaches tipping and wages is much more effective. He explains the initial ramifications of the devastating bushfires that are impacting much of Australia. Plus he explains why he was wrong about body image.

Marlena Jordan-Childress has a knack for finding or creating a fun-filled time and surrounding herself with positive people. She recently encouraged me to visit her in Seattle and I almost found enough reasons to say no. After reevaluating, I realized that taking this type of trip on short notice is precisely why I've designed my life the way I have. And Marlena, with her fun, adventurous, and inspirational attitude, precisely represents the type of person I enjoy life with most.

Drew Nicholas is director and producer for "Blood Memory: A Story of Removal and Return". This decade long project is culminating with screenings in select cities and a international release on public television in 2020. The film shares perspectives and emotions of individuals taken from their tribal communities to be raised to lose their identity in boarding schools and with White families.
Drew was in his early 20's when beginning the project and is now in his 30's and a changed person. This is a conversation about a young man learning about himself while learning about and telling the stories of a community which he had no previous ties.

Lindsey Hadden and I had a very different experience at a recent stand up comedy performance by Mark Normand. While I was having a great time watching my favorite comedian she was growing increasingly uncomfortable and decided to leave. In this conversation we discuss that experience and how it relates to her Social Anxiety Disorder.
Plus, we talk about how she and her husband John have influenced the way I travel, why she looks at being late much differently than before, and how she was wrong about dictating relationships.
