Doug Whyte is the Executive Director of the Hollywood Theatre. Honestly, I wanted to interview him because I love what the Hollywood has become and the movies they program (I love movies!). Doug talks about the path that brought him to the theatre and the inner workings of Movie Madness and the mini theatre at PDX!

This week’s episode features the much-loved local politician Rob Nosse. Rob is the Oregon State Representative for the 42nd district, which includes part of Southeast and Northeast Portland. Rob is an openly queer Dad who has a reputation for being open and honest, and he lives up to that reputation in our interview. He talks about his coming out process, his Catholic faith, and the stresses of running for office on his marriage. 

Imani Denae is one of the funniest comedians in Portland, according to my own opinion and the opinion of Willamette Week. She's a 26 year old Portland native (though she lived in Texas for a bit of her childhood) who is making a name for herself in the Portland comedy scene. Her backstory, though, is one of trauma, and she opens up quite a bit in our interview. We go deep!

Jonathan Maus is the founder, publisher, and editor of BikePortland.org, which is the best source of information regarding cycling and transportation news/advocacy in Portland. In this episode we get personal and talk about why Jonathan regrets devoting much of his life to cycling, why he feels Portland's heyday as a cycling city has past, and the hope he has for Portland in the future.

Johnny Franco is a Brazilian born entertainer who I was first introduced to a couple of years ago when he started doing performances in Laurelhurst Park. He's a great musician, a talented songwriter, a former Disney channel star, a proud Portlander, and an all-around good guy!

Matt Zaffino is the long-time meteorologist at the local TV station KGW, and he's the weatherman that I grew up watching. He's got the professionalism and poise of someone who has been in front of the camera for thousands of hours, but in this episode we talk about his background (including why he thinks New Englanders are uptight) and some of the more uncomfortable moments he's had on camera.

One of the funniest comedians in Portland, Julia Corral gave a great interview in spite of having a terrible cold. Julia talks about growing up in the shadow of Disneyland, finding her voice as a comedian, and why she just can’t resist telling jokes about her husband. 

Jess The Ripper is (in my opinion) the best DJ in Oregon. But their story is so much more than just being a DJ. They have a fascinating story that includes rising to the top of the DJ ranks in Reno and Cincinnati all the while discovering their gender and sexual identity. Jess opens up about transitioning and their experience living in the world in both female and and now a male presenting body.

Brian Kidd, the masked unicycling bagpiper known locally as The Unipiper, talks about his background and how he became a famous Portland weirdo. In the latter half of the episode he discusses his Portland passion projects: Portland at the Movies & Weird Portland United.
