Today I welcome Jen Pointer to the studio. A lifelong sports fanatic, Jen is different than any of my previous guests to date, as she didn't find the hobby until she was well inlto adulthood. She's a female in a male dominated hobby, and is the life partner of a downright baseball card degenerate. For many reasons, this conversation was my favorite yet. Greg's story is a powerful one of perseverance, family, and a spirit for giving unlike anything I've seen.

We dive in to his inspirational story of daily random acts of kindess, and discuss how he and his baseball card collecting friends have joined together to raise $120,000 for various charities over the last 3 years.

We learn some of the difficulties faced by Canadian collectors in a U.S. dominated hobby. And, he also gives us a little inside peek into the world of writing for the hobby's most respected publication.

Joey Shiver, aka DubMentality joins me in this episode. Joey is a successful blogger & regular contributor to Beckett Magazine. He is a true O.G. in the world of collecting, a man who has embraced the changes in the hobby over the past 30 years, but has never strayed far from his junk wax roots.

This was a fun episode, as we both fell into some deep nostalgia in recounting stories from the 80's. Joey's story about the middle school playground, shooting marbles in the dirt, and trading a Junkyard Dog action figure for an Ozzie Smith rookie card was pure gold ... hearing him talk about that memory is exactly why I do this.
