Before we resume our One Another Study, I wanted to take a look at an issue that really can deeply affect how we treat one another - our tendency to want to PLEASE people.
It is natural to want people to like us.
But people-pleasing and the need for other people’s constant approval can quickly become an idol.
From our series in Esther, we see Haman grow enraged when one man, Mordecai, will not bow to him. The rest of the kingdom bows, but that’s just not good enough for Haman.
And that’s how it is with approval addiction. So many people can love us - but once one person does not, our entire sense of self begins to crumble!
We take a hard look at our unhealthy need to be liked, as well as so many other things, today on Rinse and Repeat!
