This inspirational professional basketball player, Jeremy Kendle discovered his Christian faith in his teens. Told by others he would never be a professional player; he found a strength beyond any other to pursue his goal to play basketball professionally. Connecting with Hoops for Christ has allowed Jeremy Kendle to expand the brand and ministry to Australia. 

Jeremy Kendle has played in Australia's National Basketball League for the Brisbane Bullets and Sydney Kings, as well as winning MVP awards in both the Queensland Basketball League and MVP of the SEABL competition. Two regional competitions which feed the Australian National Basketball League (NBL). He also had a stint as a professional basketball player in the New Zealand - NBL.

Kendle has overcome multiple injuries including a recent ACL tear (in 2019) but despite the adversity continues to be driven by his faith and belief that God does not throw anything his way, which he cannot handle.

Jeremy is now settled in Brisbane, Australia where he continues to work with the Brisbane Bullets, Redland Basketball, Hoops for Christ and his own Jeremy Kendle Basketball business. At time of interview Kendle was rehabbing towards returning to a contracted role with his home team, the Brisbane Bullets.

Jacob Lee Welch is an artist, but not your average artist, hats and shoes are his canvas and manga and cartoons are his passion. After his life hit a rough patch, Jake was diagnosed with clinical depression. Realizing something had to change he turned to his lifelong passion as his therapist. 

In a rut, a simple photo of some painted shoes shared to him by a friend, revitalized Jake and that day he gave himself purpose. Within hours, he set about to start playing with the medium as a canvas. Before long he found people wanted to buy his creations. From there spawned an enterprise which keeps him focused and at peace with himself.

Jacob works when everyone else sleeps. Like many artists it is this deep work and constant failures to arrive at his desired vision that keeps him driven in his day to day. This is an inspirational story of a former school teacher who has rediscovered the best parts of who he is, through exploring, creating and painting.

Dave Norris is a man on a mission, with a hyper focus on tackling preventable memory loss head on. In this episode Dave talks about the importance of diet and exercise as we age, to improve memory health outcomes.

He’s a Queensland bred and trained Occupational Therapist. In his 15 year plus career Dave has provided Occupational Therapy within Public and Private Hospital, Community, Rehabilitation and Aged Care sector.

Working with clients primarily over the age of 45 he sees the impacts memory loss has as we age and believes much of what he sees is preventable.

With a wealth of experience in occupational ageing, elder-hood and acquired neurological conditions and complex therapy needs, Dave Norris hosts his own podcast, "Memory Health Made Easy" to provide everyone with the education on the issue.

His focus is to work with and educate people to optimize strengths for maximum performance.

David’s treated people with a wide range of conditions, with not only neurological and neurosurgical but also orthopedic / musculoskeletal, oncological and complex general medical and congenital conditions.

His primary interests are in Memory Health, Parkinson’s disease, Stroke, Dementia and Ageing and how to maximize independence through rehabilitation, equipment technology, lifestyle modification and excitingly robotics! He’s super excited about the state of emerging therapy opportunities and regularly collaborates with a diverse network of national and international professionals.

This episode guest Alan Robinson shares how he fell into his passion for helping others through hypnotherapy.

In his youth, Al describes himself as somewhat of a wild child, using drugs, hanging with the wrong crowd and detached from the education process. 

A little lost in life and given an ultimatum from his father, Al made his way in the food industry, becoming a chef.

But he was never too far from the "high" life that troubled his youth. 

As he matured, he realized life had to change, but was skeptical of the family business of hypnosis.

With an inquisitive mind and nothing to lose, Alan Robinson decided to let his mother (also a hypnotherapist) work some of her magic and help him quit smoking. 

After experiencing the relaxation, the first hypnotherapy session had provided, Alan became hooked and started to become highly interested in hypnotherapy. 

Several years later and Alan now has taken on his family trade and become a hypnotherapist in his own right.

Motivated by helping others overcome their negative behaviors through coaching, NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and of course hypnotherapy.

Vicki started as a humble student of digital media back in the small city of Singapore with a background in visual effects in film and television and computer programming. 

Without any contacts or connections in the United States, she began her career at the age of 18 from Singapore, working her way up into the Hollywood film industry and landing her first break working on AMC's hit series, The Walking Dead (Season 4),. 

Already recognized by her country and by major organizations as an expert in her field, Vicki has made great strides for someone her age.

At only 24 years of age, she was one of the youngest speakers and presenters at the SMPTE Annual Technical Conference in its time, where she was a panelist and speaker for virtual reality in motion pictures.

She gave a TEDx talk on visual effects and virtual reality in May 2016 at Napa Valley, CA and in November 2018, was invited to speak as a keynote speaker at Elliot Masie's Learning 2018 conference, along with keynote speakers Former First Lady Laura Bush and Hamilton star Leslie Odom, Jr.

In the latest People with a Passion podcast, Laurie Kelly of Brain Friendly Training shares how he teaches trainers to engage learners and explains why students need to understand how they learn. Laurie is considered among the best Master Trainers in Australia. A former school teacher, he identified the education system was failing some students. Fast forward almost 4 decades and Laurie is now a highly sought-after consultant helping corporations improve their workplace training including the mining and health sectors, as well as trade and apprenticeship providers.

Early in his teaching career, Laurie realized kids were dropping out or failing and needed answers. Fast forward almost 4 decades Laurie is now a sought-after consultant helping corporations assist with education in the workplace including in the mining and health industries, as well as trade and apprenticeship course providers (RTOs).  Not happy with the status quo, he worked to understand why the education system was struggling to help everyone learn so travelled the world learning and developing techniques to arrive at a model of Brain Friendly Training. 

We all learn differently, Brain Friendly Training endeavors to unlock the behaviors and characteristics individuals gravitate to when trying to learn. He teaches teachers to apply practical approaches to aid in learning outcomes for students. He also helps us all better understand how we learn and provides methods we can all apply to improve our own learning process.
