In this episode, we talk with website design business coach and webpreneur Josh Hall. Josh’s story begins when he was working as a cabinet maker for a tour bus company in the late 2000s. We walk through how getting laid off from that job began the journey into entrepreneurship and how he Josh is trying to help his students go from point A to point B without experiencing his mistakes.

Josh has gone through the rigors of entrepreneurship and has experienced so much. After getting laid off from his cabinet maker job, he began to dabble in graphic design and eventually made his way to website design. Josh talks about his experiences growing his business through networking and how establishing a local networking group helped him to successfully grow his business.

His website design agency: InTransit Studios serviced the Columbus, Ohio region for several years until Josh began to another venture JoshHall.co. As his new venture began to grow, he had to make a decision and eventually sold his website design agency. Josh talks about that process and how he knew it was time to make the move into webpreneurship.

This episode is full of practical tips and is based on Josh’s experience throughout the last decade as he went from cabinet maker to website design agency owner and now to website design business coach and course creator. There is so much value in what Josh shares in this episode, and I’m excited that my sphere of influence has the opportunity to get to know my friend Josh Hall.

For 30 years the internet has been a wide open space for innovation, passing of ideas, and exploring the possibilities of human connection. Many named the internet the new Wild West. A place with many possibilities and no regulation. Many great things have been birthed, and our world has certainly changed because of the internet. But along with the good that has come from the internet there has also been bad.  

Big corporations such as Facebook and Google have taken your information and used it for their purposes without consumer consent. Information has been sold from one company to the next without any repercussions and the only people who suffered were you....the consumer.   But now....regulation has come to the internet in the form of privacy laws. These laws are a direct result of voter concern about their privacy and what companies are doing with their information. 

This is a good thing, but the problem is that each state has its own version of these privacy laws.   For entrepreneurs and business owners, this can add a lot of stress and cost to their business as they try to figure out what policies they need to have on their website.  

Thankfully, in this episode, we interview Hans Skillrud of Termageddon. We first heard of Hans from listening to the  @Josh Hall  Website Design podcast. Hans started a company called Termageddon because of the need for an affordable solution for companies as each state passes its own laws.   Hans talks about his early days working for  @Groupon  and how he first got a taste for the digital marketing space in that job. 

Eventually, he moved into owning a digital marketing agency and served clients in the Chicago area. Hans provides us with some really good tips on listening and even how to hone in on what customers are saying to you.  

We then discuss the idea behind Termageddon and Hans tells us the story of how he met his wife and how trying to solve the privacy law issues led to him meeting his wife Donata. Hans also shares about the moment Termageddon got their big break and how being a guest on the  @The Admin Bar podcast changed EVERYTHING!

In this episode, we had the privilege of sitting down with the co-owners of the Belmont Bean, Holly Lanteigne-Marrow and Jason Wehrle, to discuss how they turned an abandoned building into the #1 voted coffee shop in York County two years in a row.

Very early in the episode, it becomes very apparent that neither Holly nor Jason planned on opening a coffee shop, but how their willingness to be flexible helped them to ultimately accomplish their goal of creating a diverse space where people are accepted and people from all walks of life can share in their humanity.

Holly's journey is very interesting as she details how she had to overcome a failed partnership and also struggle with the sellers of the building. Additionally, she details how she met Jason and opens up about her willingness to not give up on partnerships.

Jason shares about his transition from dance parent to partner in the business and how during the pandemic, when local businesses were struggling, a local community of dance parents came around them to ensure their business would continue forward. It's a very humbling conversation about community support for people they care about.

This episode takes a look at networking from a very practical standpoint as we detail how those DIRECTLY in your sphere of influence can be the most important people you cultivate relationships with, and how in tough times that network of people can be the difference between making it or folding up shop.

If we are honest, getting to know complete strangers can be scary. In our debut episode, we had the honor of talking with the CEO of Logos Academy and Logos Works, Aaron Anderson. He talks about networking in this episode and how if he could give people one thing it would be the ability to network and get to know people.

Aaron grew up in Aurora, Illinois and we take a look at how his parents helped him develop habit formation and also what Aaron is passing along to his children now that they are getting married and growing up. He provides some GEMS for any entrepreneur and business owner.

We also talk about Aaron's transition from ministry to the social sector and how his understanding of ministry evolved into wanting to make a greater impact in his community. Aaron, also, shares a story of when he felt ashamed while networking, and gives some practical ideas for introverts and how they can start networking.

This entire episode is just PURE gold, and it is full of encouragement for wherever you are on your journey.
