helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. (NLT)

John 10:12   A hired hand will run when he sees a wolf coming. He will abandon the sheep because they

    1. Scattered sheep get lost

    Psalm 23:1–3 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters. 3 He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness
    For His name’s sake. (NKJV)

    A. Some of you are lost because you’re following their own way

them loose in the mountains. They have lost their way and can’t remember how to get back to the
    sheepfold. (NLT)

    Last Days: Hell

    3 Major Questions About Hell

    1. Is hell real?

Revelation 21:8 “But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice
witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars— their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the
    second death.” (NLT)

2 Thessalonians 1:9 They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the
presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might (NIV)

Jude 7 In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual
immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.
    (NIV)

Revelation 20:13–14 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead
that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. 14  Then death and
Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15  Anyone whose name
was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire. (NIV)

Matthew 5:22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister , will be subject to
judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone
who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell. (NIV)

Matthew 5:29 If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you
to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. (NIV)

Matthew 8:12 But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there
will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” (NIV)

Matthew 10:28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of
the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. (NIV)

Matthew 13:42 They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and
    gnashing of teeth. (NIV)

Matthew 18:8-9 If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better
for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal
fire. 9  And if your eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter
life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell. (NIV)

Matthew 23:33 You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell? (NIV)

    2. What is hell like?

2 Thessalonians 1:8–9 He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our
Lord Jesus. 9  They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the
Lord and from the glory of his might (NIV)

    1. Darkness

    2. Fire

    3. Gnashing of Teeth

Luke 10:12 I assure you, even wicked Sodom will be better off than such a town on judgment day.
    (NLT)

Matthew 25:41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into
the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. (NIV)

Revelation 20:10 And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur,
where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for
    ever and ever. (NIV)

    3. Does a loving God send people to hell?

Psalm 19:1–4 The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. 2  Day after
day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known. 3  They speak without a sound or
word; their voice is never heard. 4  Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all
the world. God has made a home in the heavens for the sun. (NLT)

Romans 1:20 For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through
everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine
nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. (NLT)

2 Thessalonians 1:8–9 Those who refuse to know God and refuse to obey the Message will
pay for what they’ve done. Eternal exile from the presence of the Master and his splendid
power is their sentence. (The Message)

with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. (NIV)

    Heaven

Revelation 21:1-4 - Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the
first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.  2  I saw the Holy City, the new
Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for
her husband.  3  And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is
now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself
will be with them and be their God.  4  ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no
more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” (NIV)

Revelation 21:21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The
great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass. (NIV)

Revelation 22:1-5 - Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as
crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb  2  down the middle of the great street of
the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its
fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.  3  No longer will
there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will
serve him.  4  They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.  5  There will be no
more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will
give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever. (NIV)

1 Corinthians 2:9 – “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God
has prepared for those who love him.” (NLT)

    B. It’s the presence of ultimate good and the absence of anything bad.
Revelation 21:4 - ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or
mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” (NIV)

Revelation 21:23-27 - The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of
God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.  24  The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of
the earth will bring their splendor into it.  25  On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will
be no night there.  26  The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it.  27  Nothing impure
will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose
names are written in the Lamb’s book of life. (NIV)

    C. It’s an eternal place.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 - 16  Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting
away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.  17  For our light and momentary troubles
are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.  18  So we fix our eyes not on
what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is
    eternal. (NIV)

    D. Angels are there.

Mark 13:32 - 32  “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven (NIV)

    E. Our treasures are there.

Matthew 6:19-21 - 19  “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and
vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.  20  But store up for yourselves treasures in
heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and
steal.  21  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (NIV)

    F. God lives there.

Psalm 103:19 - The LORD has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all.
    (NIV)

Matthew 5:16 -   In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your
good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. (NIV)

    3. What will we do in heaven?

    A. Be rewarded for service

1 Corinthians 3:12-15 -   If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones,
wood, hay or straw,  13  their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to
light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work.  14  If
what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward.  15  If it is burned up, the builder
will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.
    (NIV)

    B. Be reunited with loved ones

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 - For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud
command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in
Christ will rise first.  17  After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together
with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the
Lord forever.  18  Therefore encourage one another with these words. (NIV)

    C. Meet our Savior

John 14:1-3 - “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.  2  My
Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going
there to prepare a place for you?  3  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and
take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. (NIV)

    D. Worship our amazing God

Revelation 19:6-7 -Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing
waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: “Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns.
7  Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! (NIV)
