Jesus wears divine names (e.g., Jesus, Lord, God). While this does not automatically assign him divine status, the context of several passages in the New Testament demand that the names of Jesus be more than symbolic; they indicate that he is God. This study surveys the divine names of Jesus. This is Part 3 in the series “Jesus Is God.”

Is Jesus God? Some people today claim that neither Jesus nor the earliest Christians thought that Jesus was God. In a previous sermon, we examined the divine honors that Jesus expected and received, showing that he is indeed God. In this next part, we consider the divine attributes that Jesus possesses. If Jesus has qualities that can only be true of God, then he must be God.

The parable of the sower is given one of the most lengthy explanations of any parable Jesus tells. And yet misconceptions about the point of the parable remain. What does this mean for our understanding of other parables and even the rest of scripture? This is the very question Jesus asks and one we need to ponder.
