Greetings all. Today, our guest Henry Peterson calls in to talk about a book he is working on about his personal experience with heroine addiction called Hometown Heroine. Henry is a jazz pianist and composer from Syracuse, New York. A fixture on the Central New York music scene, Henry's played at clubs and festivals in NYC, Georgia, South Carolina and throughout the Northeast, and currently teaches music part-time at a major university. Four years ago--feeling a bit listless and lonely--he answered a dating ad and met Naomi, a beautiful, free-spirited young woman. The two had a powerful connection and began dating immediately. But details of Naomi's heroin addiction slowly emerged. In an attempt to help her get clean, Henry became a poster boy for enabling, getting sucked into a dark world...from roach-infested drugs houses, to fancy rehab centers--and everything in between. It was a four year saga that left him reflecting on the nature of addiction, codependency, and life in modern America. You can go to https://hometownheroin.com/ to follow his journey of reflection and capturing it in words.
