Making Light: Two Humans Being. In this episode, Julie and Kate continue the theme (or "workaround") for December. This month's theme is Perfectionism, and this week they examine how we try to be perfect in order to not feel unworthy…
Welcome to our themes in Making Light: Two Humans Being! Each week we'll explore the theme in the context of each negative belief. There are 4 main negative beliefs we recognise in Soul Level Intuitive Coaching®, Unloveable, Not Worthy, Not Good Enough and Not Safe Supported and Protected. Workarounds are the behaviours we put in place to protect ourselves from pain of these negative beliefs. While some workarounds may be useful, most of them hold us back and stop us living a fulfilled life. Recognising your workarounds and identifying the negative belief behind it loosens the grip of the belief.
This week:
💫 Kate mentions a poem she incorrectly ascribed to a Scottish comedian, in fact it’s an English poet, Philip Larkin, worth a read! https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/48419/this-be-the-verse
💫 Julie mentions Elise Loehnen’s (https://www.eliseloehnen.com) podcast “Pulling The Thread with Elise Loehnen”. The episode she refers to is “Reimagining Recovery (Holly Whitaker): ADDICTION” https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/reimagining-recovery-holly-whitaker-addiction/id1585015034?i=1000637399171, an interview with Holly Whitaker, author of the New York Times bestselling “Quit Like a Woman: The Radical Choice to Not Drink in a Culture Obsessed with Alcohol”
💫 Elise Loehnen is also the author of our favourite book: “On Our Best Behaviour: the Seven Deadly Sins and the Price Woman Pay to be Good”.
💫 The drug Julie refers to is “ayahuasca”, a psychedelic drug, traditionally used by indigenous cultures now used in spiritual therapy, though still illegal in most countries.
