CONTENT WARNING: This episode contains discussions of sexual violence. We are committed to creating space for people to share their experiences, including people who are currently incarcerated. Prisons are often sites of abuse, and you will hear our guest mention instances of sexual violence. We know that may be triggering for some people.
Danielle and Nicole are joined by Kwaneta Harris, a currently incarcerated journalist and health educator. She is a former nurse and uses her knowledge and experience to provide health information to other people incarcerated in the Texas women's prison.
We discuss what health care looks like inside prison, how incarcerated people have to advocate for even basic levels of care, and how through peer education and support, they look out for each other. Kwaneta discusses her own experience with perimenopause and how she has navigated her symptoms while inside.
She has been published in numerous media outlets, which can accessed through her website: https://www.kwanetaharris.com/writing-clips
