What happens when crowds chase after Jesus for all the wrong reasons? In John 6:22-27, Christ Himself exposes the difference between seeking Him for temporary satisfaction versus eternal life.
The hard truth: Many who claim to follow Jesus are actually following a Jesus of their own making. They want the benefits, the blessings, the "full bellies": but not the Savior who calls us to die to self and live for His glory. Jesus knew their hearts then. He knows yours now. This isn't about trying harder or being more sincere.
Question for reflection: Are you seeking Jesus for what He can do for you, or for who He IS as your all-sufficient Savior and Lord?
"Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal.” —Jesus (John 6:27 ESV)
