GOSPEL LUKE 18: 1-8
Father, I believe in you © Mike Anderson 2006
St Luke’s Gospel has formed the basis of our readings this year and in it we have been given a number of tips about prayer and the relationship Jesus had with the broken, suffering and downtrodden. He takes care to describe Christ’s welcome of those ignored by society and those who were readily excluded by the elders and ignored by others. They included women, children, the poor, tax collectors, prostitutes, the sick, broken and the weak. To all of these Jesus offers salvation, strength and spiritual recovery.

22nd Sunday in Ordinary time
Lord God of power and might,
Nothing is good which is against your will,
And all is of value which comes from your hand.
Place in our hearts a desire to please you
and fill our minds with insight into love,
So that every thought may grow in wisdom
and all our efforts may be filled with your peace.

21ST SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Lord our God
all truth is from you
and you alone bring oneness of heart.
Give your people the joy
of hearing your word in every sound
and of longing for your presence more than for life itself.
May all the attractions of the changing world
serve only to bring us
the peace of your kingdom which this world does not give.
